Faith Promise

FAITH PROMISE…What is it?

A Faith Promise is an agreement we make with God to give to missions. It’s a promise because it is a commitment to provide a certain amount of money over a specific time period for missions. It requires faith because we are trusting God to provide these funds in various ways. It also requires obedience to release these funds as God provides. This is not taken from our general support and tithe offerings of the church!

Faith Promise is strictly between you and God. No one will call you about your promise.

Faith Promise is based on several solid Biblical principles which show God’s ownership,

God’s plan, and the believer’s faith. God owns everything. “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” Psalm 24:1. God’s Word is clear, we belong to God and everything we have comes from Him and belongs to Him. We are called to be faithful stewards of His resources.

God works through people. “Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:10-11. In order to accomplish His purposes, namely, the salvation and deliverance of people, people from all the people groups of the world, God has entrusted to His people the resources for the task.

The believer’s faith. The faith of the believer activates the process. “Without faith it is impossible to please God.” Hebrews 11:6. It is clear that God wants us to live by faith, and that He carries out His purposes through the faith of those who depend on Him. Faith is an exciting part of the Christian walk…trusting God to meet our needs as we give generously to meet the needs of others.

FAITH PROMISE is about growing our faith; it’s about joyfully entering into the purpose of the church which is TO WIN THE WORLD TO JESUS! _____________________________________________________

FAITH PROMISE…How do I get involved?

Begin by deciding if you will support missions as a family or individually. Then pray about how much you might promise to support missionaries during this next year. On Faith Promise Sunday; which is always the last week-end of February you will be given a card to fill out…the card is just a way for the church to develop and to target our faith promise mission giving.

If you were unable to participate during the faith promise week-end in February but feel God stirring within you a desire to participate now, by all means, it is not too late. You can jump in now and make a difference for the Kingdom of God by participating for the remainder of this Faith Promise calendar year.

FAITH PROMISE…How does God provide?

Through our abundance. Psalm 67:7 says, “God will bless us, and all the earth will fear Him”. There is a reason behind God’s blessing: we are blessed to be a blessing to others.

Through our sacrifices. 2 Corinthians 8:1-2 says, “And now, brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Macedonian churches. Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity.” If the Macedonians could give beyond their ability, so can we. They were living in poverty at the time, but still they were willing to give.

Through good management. Who among us could not revise our budgets to make more money available for missions? Careful attention to management could produce much giving to missions. (Daniel 12:3)

Through our creativity. Can you think of some ways to make extra money for missions? Maybe from selling something of value, taking temporary or part-time work, or selling craft items. Be creative! (Psalm 119:32)

Through unexpected income. God sometimes passes an extra blessing on to us, money totally unexpected. It may be a bonus, an inheritance, repayment of an old debt, a refund, or a gift. God delight in giving gifts to His children so they can bless others. (Matthew 5:14-15)

FAITH PROMISE…Frequently asked questions!

What is Faith Promise? A Faith Promise is a commitment to God to give X amount of dollars if He will provide it over and above your tithe to the church for the purpose of worldwide evangelism. It is faith giving to God for missions.

What is the church’s role since Faith Promise is made to God? The church serves as a collecting hand to forward funds to the various mission projects that we as a church support. While the commitment is made to God, the church, as God’s body on earth, dispenses the funds on behalf of the individual so the good news of Jesus can go forth.

Why do you believe in the Faith Promise plan? We believe it works best because it challenges each individual to live by faith. It challenges him or her to depend upon God and to make a commitment on faith. In short, it grows faith! The more the individual is involved and gathered up in the work of Christ, the better it is for the Kingdom of God!

After I make a Faith Promise commitment, how should the money be given? The easiest way is to use the offering envelopes provided by MCC. At the church building the envelopes can be found in the pews in the worship center. On the offering envelop is a box designated Faith Promise. Place your gift in the offering envelop, check the designated box, and drop it in the offering plate or put it down the offering drop box in the foyer. If your gift is cash you are done, if your gift is in the form of a check, remember to write on the memo line of the check: Faith Promise.

How often should I give to Faith Promise? It is up to you. Some like to give each Lord’s Day, seeing how God is supplying on a weekly basic; others like to give monthly. Either way give in faith with a cheerful heart. God loves it that way!

FAITH PROMISE…gather, grow, and go for Christ and His Kingdom!
